To obtain a scholarship, Marina must retrieve a civil status document that only her biological family can provide. Adopted at a very young age after losing both her parents, the young woman travels to Vigo, Galicia, the region they came from, to meet a whole branch of her family. There, her quest takes on an extremely intimate turn, which she documents using her camera, in a mise en abyme that plunges her into a past that had remained silent until then.
A coming-of-age story with deep breath and gaze, like a great wind stroking the Galician sea, Carla Simon’s third feature film is a poem. Rooted in the Spanish director’s personal and fragmented story, it constantly calls for missing images, which cinematographer Hélène Louvert accompanies with great soul.
