This is the fourth event of the Bourgmeisterin: Fireside Chats bi-monthly series – a cultural storytelling format supported by the Ministry of Family Affairs, Solidarity, Living Together, and Reception of Refugees and co-produced with ARA City Radio that runs from winter 2026 till summer 2027. The series builds on Bourgmeisterin, a long-running cultural storytelling project that has been exploring Luxembourg’s history, traditions, and identity for 3 years.

Why do certain recipes survive for generations?

Why does a particular smell, flavour, or family dish instantly transport us somewhere else?

And can a restaurant become more than a place to eat – can it become a place where people find a sense of belonging?

For this edition of Bourgmeisterin: Fireside Chats, we'll explore food not simply as something we consume, but as a living expression of memory, identity, culture, and community.

Joining us for the conversation is Davide Sorvillo, one of the driving forces behind Luxembourg's contemporary hospitality scene and the entrepreneur behind Bonne Nouvelle, Public House, and Bistro des Capucins – .three distinct dining concepts, each offering its own interpretation of what food can mean in today's Luxembourg.

🔹Together, we'll follow Davide's journey from his Italian-Luxembourgish upbringing to becoming one of the country's most exciting young restaurateurs, exploring how family memories, cultural heritage, and entrepreneurial ambition shaped the places he has created.

🔹Along the way, we'll discover how each of his restaurants tells a different story – from Italian traditions carried across generations, to contemporary interpretations of Luxembourgish cuisine, to the everyday rituals of sharing good food around the table.

🔹The conversation will then broaden to Luxembourg itself. How did Luxembourg's traditional cuisine emerge? What can its classic dishes tell us about the country's history? How has a nation shaped by migration continued to reinvent its culinary identity? And what role do chefs and restaurants play in preserving traditions while creating new ones?

🔹Finally, we'll turn to one of food's greatest powers: its ability to bring people together. Drawing on Davide's own experience of growing up in Luxembourg and finding his place through language, hospitality, and community, we'll explore how restaurants become meeting places where Luxembourgers and newcomers connect, friendships begin, and a shared sense of belonging is created.

Because perhaps the most enduring traditions aren't simply recipes.

They're the conversations, memories, and communities that grow around the table.

• The evening is hosted by Julia Khalyavko, the founder of Bourgmeisterin, a cultural storytelling project dedicated to exploring Luxembourg’s history, traditions, and contemporary identity through articles, podcasts, and public conversations.
• The discussion is joined by Davide Sorvillo, an entrepreneur and hospitality professional based in Luxembourg. As co-founder of Satori Co., he develops restaurants, bars, and wine-focused concepts that combine thoughtful hospitality with strong branding. His work spans natural wine importing, creative marketing, and the creation of spaces where food, wine, and culture come together. Concepts include, Bonne Nouvelle Bar, Public House Restaurant, Bistro des Capucins and Skandal Agency.

The conversation doesn’t end when the fireside chat does. Catering and drinks will be served after the discussion, offering space to linger, exchange thoughts, and connect with fellow attendees in a relaxed, informal setting with up to 50 other attendees.

• Please note that the fireside chat will be video-recorded. Some before- and after-moments – as guests arrive and leave – may also be captured. The recording will be edited into a video-podcast episode and published on YouTube as part of the Bourgmeisterin: Fireside Chats series.
