Bluff

"Already now, Bluff is part of our future" – none other than Nils Landgren declared just about two years ago. By that time, the Hamburg-based quartet had already established itself as a formidable force in its northern German surroundings. Shaping and refining the music of its band members, drawing strong inspiration from across the Atlantic, Bluff has developed a distinctive sound, ranging from Jarrett-like rubato ballads to lively, dynamic pieces reminiscent of Wilkins and Aldana. The four musicians know each other intimately, forming a trusting, synergistic ensemble. Over the past five years, Bluff has extensively toured Germany, including performances at the renowned ELBJAZZ and JazzBaltica festivals, as well as dates in Austria and Switzerland. Since the release of their

debut album, *Sleight of Hand*, with Berthold Records early last year, the quartet has been dedicated to developing new repertoire, continually honing their craft and nurturing the playful spirit of their music.

Their compositions are melodic and shaped with contours, inviting the band to navigate winding forms as if gliding on ice — challenging yet exhilarating. The result is a dynamic, sophisticated sound that is pure ear candy.

Nils Landgren must have had a feeling — it seems Bluff is here to stay.
