The 12th annual British & Irish Film Festival Luxembourg (BIFFL) takes place from Friday 17 September to Saturday 25 September 2021 inclusive, with weekday screenings from 20-24 September being held at the Cinémathèque.
This year, the festival will see some changes as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The festival organisers are planning to screen all films in the programme in-cinema, with some also being screened online, on a platform which was successfully tested in March with two Irish films. Cinemas are open again and the festival organisers are looking forward to an exciting 10 days of cinema from England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland across many genres including drama, comedy, thriller, documentary and animation.
Even though we cannot hold receptions and the programme of films may be reduced, we will be programming the best selection that we can within the constraints imposed.
The full programme of screening and guests can be consulted at www.bifilmseason.lu
The BIFFL screenings will be held using the CovidCheck system to allow audiences to have a safe and enjoyable evening.
Before attending one of the screenings, viewers must therefore buy their movie ticket and bring their CovidCheck certificate. For more information about the CovidCheck system, click here.
The organisers ask viewers to come prepared with the necessary CovidCheck documents so as to ensure the best possible experience for everyone and prevent long queues. In the event you cannot produce any of these documents, it will be possible for you to carry out a rapid antigen test upon your arrival in a separate area. The test station opens 45 minutes prior to the screenings and closes 10 minutes before the film starts. If you need to get tested, we recommend to come at least 30 minutes ahead of time, so that the test results will be ready and you can enter the site as stress-free as possible without missing the opening scene from your favourite film.
