Collection costs

When renting a large-capacity container, one free collection is provided per rental period.

Each additional collection during the rental period is billed at a cost of €50 per collection.

Charge for offloading waste

Waste offloaded using the various containers provided is billed at the daily rate charged by the incineration plant for mixed residual waste or, in the case of recyclable waste, by the recycling company.

If Luxembourg City receives a fee for offloading certain categories of recyclable waste, container users will receive a rebate of the same amount.

Placement information

Containers must be positioned in easily accessible areas with plenty of space, in accordance with the conditions described in detail in the technical specifications of the Luxembourg City waste management regulation (Règlement concernant la gestion des déchets) of 5 May 2014.

To request a container, please call the Service Hygiène on 4796-3640 (Monday to Friday, 8:00–16:00).

A Service Hygiène representative will come to check whether the area specified is suitable for a container to be placed there. This representative will take care of all the administrative procedures associated with getting a public-right-of-way permit, which takes five working days to be issued.

Collection stations

Depending on their needs and available space, businesses may choose to use a 3 m3, Igloo-type public collection station for paper/cardboard or glass. Rental is free, but collection is billed.

Collection of a 3 m3 container: €28.50 per collection
