Markets in Luxembourg City

Only professional vendors with a business permit may sell their goods at the City's markets.

Applications for operating a stall (using the appropriate form) must reach the City of Luxembourg by 15 February 2020 for the 2020/2021 season (1 April 2020 to 31 March 2021). Applications received after this date may be considered depending on the products offered for sale and according to site availability.

Food Village – Wednesday market

The Food Village will be back again at Place Guillaume II from March to August 2020 (or even October 2020).

Glacismaart

Only professional vendors with a business permit may sell their goods at the Glacismaart.

Applications (using the relevant form) must reach the City of Luxembourg between 1 December and 31 January for the upcoming season. Applications received after this date may be considered depending on the products offered for sale and according to site availability.

Flea markets

Flea markets are reserved for private individuals reserved for private individuals who wish to sell or exchange their own used items. Participation is free.

Participation

Registration opens one month in advance: you may register between the first and tenth day of the month preceding the flea market you wish to participate in. Registrations outside of these dates will not be considered.

Luxembourg City residents are given priority over non-residents. Individuals may reserve only one spot each per flea market.

Participants may arrive and start setting up their stands between 6:30 and 9:00. They may use their own vehicle to transport their stuff if needed, as long as the vehicle is moved by 9:00. Access to the site for the purpose of unloading merchandise is restricted to one car.

The City will provide one table to display the items on sale and two benches per spot. (Front-side width of location: 4 metres).
Selling is permitted from 10:00 to 17:00. Participants are kindly asked to abide by this schedule, and not close or take down their stall before the end of the market.

The sale of animals, food and drink, and items prohibited by Luxembourg law is strictly forbidden.

Antique market

Only professional vendors with a business permit (e.g. an association) may sell their goods at the antique market.

Éimaischen

Participation in the Éimaischen is limited to professional vendors, artists or craftspeople wishing to sell pottery or ceramics and other handicrafts. Food and drink stands may also be allocated.

Summer activities – fairground attractions and market stalls

For its summer programme of activities, the City of Luxembourg is seeking fairground attractions and market stalls to place in various locations around the city. The plan is for these establishments to operate daily from 11 July to 13 September 2020, between 11:00 and 22:00. These dates may be changed, depending on how the COVID-19 situation develops.

National Day – Fakelzuch

Local clubs and associations wishing to participate in the torch procession ("Fakelzuch") must submit an application to the Service Espace public, fêtes et marchés (Department of Public Spaces, Festivals and Markets) by 31 May of the current year. The following information must be provided:

  • Name of the association
  • Full name of the contact person
  • Telephone number and email address
  • Number of participants
  • Type of contribution (music, singing, folklore, dancing, etc.)
  • For floats: photo, dimensions and vehicle registration number.

Schueberfouer

Participation in the Schueberfouer is limited to professional vendors.

If you wish to operate your business at the Schueberfouer, please submit your application between 1 May and 30 September of the year preceding the year for which you wish to apply (i.e. between 1 May and 30 September 2020 for the Schueberfouer in 2021).

Applicants must fill in the appropriate application form (download below) and provide the necessary documents. Applicants who do not provide a duly signed and completed application form, along with the required documents, by 30 September will not be considered.

Separate applications must be submitted for each individual business.

A complete application, with all supporting documents, must be sent by 30 September (date of receipt) with the note "Candidature Schueberfouer" (Schueberfouer application) to the address stated in the form below.

A paper version of the form may be requested at the address stated under "Contact details" below.

Applications will be reviewed and assessed by the college of the mayor and aldermen, who will notify applicants of their decision.

Winterlights

Participation in the Winterlights festival is limited to professional vendors.

If you wish to participate in the Winterlights festival, please submit your application between 1 August of the year preceding the year for which you wish to apply and 15 January of the year for which you wish to apply (i.e. between 1 August 2020 and 15 January 2021 for the Winterlights festival in 2021).

Applicants must fill in the appropriate application form (download below) and provide the necessary documents. Applicants who do not provide a duly signed and completed application form, along with the required documents, by 15 January will not be considered.

Separate applications must be submitted for each individual business.

A complete application, with all supporting documents, must be sent by 15 January (date of receipt) with the note "Candidature Winterlights" (Winterlights application) to the address stated in the form below.

Applications will be reviewed and assessed by the college of the mayor and aldermen, who will notify applicants of their decision.

Winter flea market / Second-hand market

The flea market is reserved for private individuals who wish to sell or exchange their own used items.

To register, please fill out and return the form (preferably to: videgrenier@vdl.lu) between 1 and 10 November. Applications received outside of this registration window will not be considered. The form will be available below in due time.
