Become a vendor at festivals and markets

Bi-weekly farmers' markets

Only food products, plants and flowers may be sold at the bi-weekly farmers markets.

All stand operators (producers and vendors) must

  • have a business permit; and
  • liability insurance (including for food poisoning, if necessary) for their stalls.

Applications for operating a market stall must be submitted in writing and include the following information

  • the applicant's contact details, including telephone number (mobile);
  • the products offered for sale and their origin (own production or commercially acquired);
  • the type and size of the stall;
  • a copy of the business permit.

Proof of the required insurance coverage must be presented after receiving the market permit.

Food Village – Wednesday market

From early August to late October 2019, a new food village will be organised at the weekly Wednesday market.

Food stands will only be permitted to sell food that is prepared and intended to be eaten on site, as well as drinks. Vendors must commit to operating their stand at this site every Wednesday during this period, from 9:00 to 14:00.

Anyone who has a business permit and/or other specific authorisations or permits necessary to carry out the relevant activity may apply.

Glacismaart

Only professional vendors may sell their goods at the Glacismaart (monthly market at Glacis). To participate, you must be able to provide a business permit and a copy of your stall insurance.

The market is held on the third Sunday of every month from March to November – except for the month of August (due to the Schueberfouer) – and there are two registration periods:

  • for March to July, the registration deadline is the end of February;
  • for September to November, the registration deadline is the end of August.

  • the products offered for sale and their origin (own production or commercially acquired);
  • the type and size of the stall;
  • a copy of the business permit.

Flea markets

Flea markets are reserved for private individuals who would like to sell items from their own households. Participation is free.

Instructions

Registration opens one month in advance: you may register between the first and tenth day of the month preceding the flea market you wish to participate in. Registrations outside of these dates will not be considered.
Luxembourg City residents are given priority over non-residents. Individuals may reserve only one spot each per flea market.

Participants may arrive and start setting up their stands between 5:30 and 8:30. They may use their own vehicle to transport their stuff if needed, as long as the vehicle is moved by 9:00. Access to the site for the purpose of unloading merchandise is restricted to one car.
The City will provide one table to display the items on sale and two benches per spot. (Front-side width of location: 4 metres).
Selling is permitted from 10:00 to 17:00. Participants are kindly asked to abide by this schedule, and not close or dismantle their stall before the end of the market.

The sale of animals, food and drink, and items prohibited by Luxembourg law is strictly forbidden.

Antique market

To register for an antique market, please contact the Fédération des Antiquaires et Brocanteurs du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg (association of dealers in antiques and second-hand goods). Applicants must provide a business permit and proof of liability insurance.

Schueberfouer

If you wish to operate your fairground businesss at the Schueberfouer, please submit your application between 1 May and 15 September of the year preceding the year for which you wish to apply (i.e. between 1 May and 15 September 2020 for the Schueberfouer in 2021). NB: registration is now closed for the Schueberfouer in 2020. The application form for 2021 will be made available here in due time.

Applicants must fill in the appropriate application form and provide the necessary documents. Applicants who do not provide a duly signed and completed application form, along with the required documents, by 15 September will not be considered.

Separate applications must be submitted for each individual funfair business.

A complete application, with all supporting documents, must be sent by 15 September (date of receipt) with the note "Candidature Schueberfouer" (Schueberfouer application) to the address below.

Applications will be reviewed and assessed by the college of the mayor and aldermen, who will communicate their decision to applicants by the end of January at the latest.

Christmas markets

Chalets at the Place d'Armes market are reserved exclusively for private individuals, while those at the charity market at "Roude Pëtz" are reserved for associations.

Chalet reservation forms will be published online in late October/early November. Applications to rent a chalet reserved for craftspeople at the Place d'Armes market or for a chalet reserved for associations at the Charity Market at the Roude Pëtz must be submitted using the appropriate form.

Winter flea market / Second-hand market

The flea market is reserved for private individuals who wish to sell or exchange their own used items.

To register, please fill out and return the form below (preferably to: videgrenier@vdl.lu) between 1 and 10 November. Applications received outside of this registration window will not be considered.

Entry is free.
