At the Place d'Armes Christmas market, four chalets will be reserved exclusively for private individuals who wish to sell their handmade goods and artistic creations (jewellery, knitwear, baked goods, etc.).

Since it is often difficult for craft vendors, artists and private individuals to man their booths for the entire duration of the market, Luxembourg City offers a scheme whereby chalets can be hired for two or more days, depending on availability. The chalets are available for hire at €25 a day.

Place du Théâtre

As part of the policy implemented last summer to make Place du Théâtre more of a fun and welcoming space, a covered Christmas market will be held there for the first time this year. The market will mainly sell handicraft, local and regional products, with a focus on design.

The covered market is organised together with the association lët’z go local, and hosts new vendors selling a variety of unique and original products every week. Food and drink will also be available at this market.

Hiring of chalets

Chalets at the Place d'Armes market are reserved exclusively for private individuals, while those at the charity market at "Roude Pëtz" are reserved for associations.

Chalet reservation forms will be published online at the beginning of November. Applications for the chalets reserved for handicraft vendors at the Place d'Armes market, or for those reserved for associations at the charity market at "Roude Pëtz" must be submitted to the Service Fêtes et marchés (Festivals and markets department), which is open on weekdays between 8:00 and 12:30.

Hiring fees must be paid in advance upon submitting the application to the Service Fêtes et marchés.

Behind the scenes

Respect for the environment

Drinks and a selection of dishes at the Christmas markets are served on reusable crockery, made from materials such as glass and porcelain. Visitors pay a deposit when purchasing food or drink, and this deposit is returned when they bring the crockery back to the stands. Associations using the chalet-style market stalls in the city centre will also use this system, serving their hot drinks in glass cups.

With the valuable collaboration of the stallholders and associations, waste can be considerably reduced. The experience gained during the Christmas markets is also being used to phase these practices into all future public events.
