New publication

The Luxembourg City Cinémathèque is pleased to present the book "Hitchcock. The brand. La marque Hitchcock à travers le temps" ("The Hitchcock Brand Through the Years") by Paul Lesch.

The book

To this day, Alfred Hitchcock is one of the world's most famous filmmakers. More than 40 years after his death, his name and image continue to be a universal cultural reference that evokes cinematic quality, powerful filmmaking, suspense, dark humour and originality.

This book, which is being published as a companion to the exhibition of the same name held at Cercle Cité in Luxembourg City, analyses and provides examples of the intentional, purposeful creation of this "brand" – this pervasive and popular public image. Hitchcock drew on a host of methods and mechanisms that helped him shape an original, compelling and influential brand image that matched his ambitions.
