New rhododendron garden in Tony Neuman Park

Limpertsberg - Parc Tony Neuman
14.10.2020
Environment

The City of Luxembourg's Service Parcs (Parks Department) is creating a rhododendron garden in Tony Neuman Park in Limpertsberg. Visitors are sure to be enchanted by the spectacular display of this spring-blooming shrub. Rhododendrons, which are part of the heather family, originate in Asia, and produce flowers in a range of colours.

Preparatory works and planting will take place in a series of stages, as appropriate for seasonal conditions. The first stage, which began in October 2020, saw the installation of the base structure for the garden: the ground was levelled, and an automatic watering system was installed. Work on the footpath to the new garden is scheduled to take place over the next few weeks and, once completed, the first batch of rhododendrons and other shrubs will be planted. Then, in spring 2021, the Service Parcs will take advantage of the more clement weather to plant other bushes, shrubs and rhododendrons. The third and final phase in autumn 2021 will see the planting of the last batch of shrubs, as well as any improvement work that may be required.
