It is with deep shock and great sadness that the College of Aldermen learned of the tragic accident that occurred last night (24/11) at Place Guillaume II, where an ice sculpture collapsed and severely injured a young child. Despite immediate medical assistance, the child died shortly after the incident.
Although no words can ease the pain and loss felt by the child's family and friends following this awful tragedy, the College of Aldermen extends to them its sincerest condolences and deepest sympathy.
Out of respect, all of Luxembourg City's Christmas markets will remain closed and all planned events have been cancelled today (25/11).
The incident is currently under police investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
