Politics, policy and administration

Since the 1980s, the non-profit organisation Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) has been one of the key organisers of concerts and events held in the capital's public spaces. Over the years, the LCTO has launched or helped organise a number of festivals and concerts, including All American, Blues’n Jazz Rallye, Concerts de midi, Fête de la Musique, Kinnekswiss loves ..., Klassik am Park, Live At Vauban, Luxembourg Light Festival, MeYouZik, public concerts held on Place d'Armes, Rock um Knuedler, Streeta(rt)nimation, and Winterlights.

However, the events sector has undergone a series of major changes over the past decade.

With this in mind, the College of Aldermen of the City of Luxembourg and the LCTO's Board of Directors have agreed that the City of Luxembourg will now be responsible for events that, until now, have been staged by the LCTO.

As a result, the LCTO's Events & Culture team will be integrated into the City's Service Espace public, fêtes et marches (Department of Public Spaces, Festivals and Markets). This department has an overwhelming amount of experience in staging traditional, cultural and popular events in the capital. To contact the Service Espace public, fêtes et marches, please call 4796 4299 or send an email to efm@vdl.lu.

Meanwhile, the LCTO will focus on running the tourist office on Place Guillaume II, managing the Casemates, giving guided tours, devising and introducing initiatives that will encourage tourists to visit the city, and getting involved in other tourism-related projects.

The City of Luxembourg would like to sincerely thank the LCTO for all the years it has provided an invaluable contribution to the organisation of cultural events in the capital.

The LCTO would like to thank all the performers, musicians, partners, suppliers and, last but not least, the public. Together, they have helped make the festivals and other events held over the past 40 years so successful. It is confident that the Events & Culture team will continue to pour its heart and soul into staging high-quality cultural events for the public to enjoy.
