On Wednesday, 27 May 2020, His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri and the college of the mayor and aldermen of the City of Luxembourg, represented by Mayor Lydie Polfer, Patrick Goldschmidt, Alderman in charge of sanitation matters, and Chief Alderman Serge Wilmes, paid a visit to the Recycling Centre and the office of the City's Service Hygiène (Sanitation Department). Tania Bofferding, Minister of Home Affairs (Ministre de l'Intérieur), was also in attendance.

During the visit, His Royal Highness Grand Duke Henri thanked the teams for their hard work during and after the COVID-19 lockdown measures. Throughout these difficult times, the Service Hygiène has continued to work by adapting its procedures to ensure that employees are protected as much as possible. As a result, all essential services such as daily waste collections and keeping the city's public spaces clean and tidy have continued to be provided during lockdown.
