COVID-19 pandemic: changes regarding access to cultural institutions and sporting facilities

Following the Government's announcement on Tuesday, 5 January 2021, the City of Luxembourg would like to inform the public that cultural institutions and sporting facilities reopened to the public on Monday, 11 January 2021 in line with the public-health measures currently in force.

CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS

Les 2 Musées de la Ville de Luxembourg (municipal museums)

  • Villa Vauban:
    • Tuesday: closed
    • Monday–Sunday: 10:00–18:00 (Friday: 10:00–21:00)
    • Current exhibitions:

      • Charles Kohl (1929–2016): Drawings and sculptures (until 24/01/2021)

  • Lëtzebuerg City Museum:

  • Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg (municipal theatres): #mirfreeëneisopiech
    • Performances resumed on Friday, 15 January 2021.
    • January 2021 programme:
      • Moulins à paroles: premiere on Wednesday, 20 January 2021, followed by performances on 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 and 30 January 2021 (20:00), as well as on 24 and 31 January (17:00), in the Studio of the Grand Théâtre (a production by the Théâtre Ouvert Luxembourg as part of the "Connection" initiative, through which various theatres share their stages).
      • On ne badine pas avec l'amour: premiere on Tuesday, 26 January 2021, followed by performances on 28, 29 and 30 January as well as 2 and 3 February 2021 (20:00), at the Théâtre des Capucins.
    • Important information:
      • No mask, no entry
      • Numbered seats will be allocated: in order to maintain a distance of two metres in all directions, groups will be seated three seats apart, and every other row of seats will be left vacant.

  • Cinémathèque
    • Reopened on Saturday, 16 January 2021.
    • Opening hours and screenings:
      • Monday–Friday: 1 screening (evening)
      • Saturday and Sunday: 2 screenings (afternoon and evening)

  • Conservatoire
    • At the Conservatoire and the École des quartiers, individual and group classes (except for ensembles) in all areas have resumed in line with the public-health measures currently in force. 
    • With respect to the Maison de la culture, most major educational projects have been postponed for the time being.

  • Photothèque
    • Open from Monday to Friday, 7:30–12:00 and 13:30–17:00.
    • Visits by appointment only (no more than two people at a time).

  • Cité Bibliothèque
    • Open from Tuesday to Friday, 10:00–19:00, and Saturday 10:00–18:00.
    • Visitors can once again access levels -1 and -2 in order to choose the items they want to borrow.
    • Access is limited to 20 people at a time (10 people per level).
    • The workstations for students, computers and the reading section with newspapers and magazines are closed.

  • Municipal archives
    • Visits and access to the reading room are by appointment only (no more than one visitor at a time).
    • Opening hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30–12:00 and 13:30–16:00

  • Luxembourg City Tourist Office
    • The Luxembourg City Tourist Office is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00–17:00. Staff will be available to take your call from Monday to Saturday, 9:00–18:00. Alternatively, please send an email to touristinfo@lcto.lu.

SPORTING FACILITIES

"Sports pour tous" classes

  • Outdoor classes resumed on Saturday, 16 January 2021 in line with the public-health measures currently in force.
  • Indoor classes are cancelled until further notice.

Swimming pools and learner pools

  • Reopened to clubs on Monday, 11 January 2021, provided that the public-health measures currently in force are applied.
  • From Monday, 11 January 2021, the general public can use the swimming pools only. To do so, sessions must be booked in advance.
  • Bookings:
    • To prevent queues from forming, a two-hour session (e.g. 8:00–10:00, 10:00–12:00) must be booked in advance. Anyone who has not made an advance booking will not be allowed entry.
    • Bookings are to be made by telephone:
      Badanstalt Aquatic Relaxation Centre: 4796-2550
      Bonnevoie Pool: 4796-3471
      Belair Pool: 4796-3471
    • Bookings can only be made for the week in question, except for Monday sessions, which can be booked on the Friday before. Only one session can be booked at a time.
    • Bookings can be made for up to four people, including the person making the booking.
  • Public-health measures:
    • The preventive measures that apply in enclosed spaces also apply in the swimming pools. This means that face masks, or other face coverings that cover the mouth and nose, must be worn between the main entrance and the changing rooms.
    • Facilities such as saunas, steam baths, hot tubs, fitness rooms, shower rooms and baths, as well as mixed changing rooms are closed until further notice.
    • Group aquatic activities held indoors are suspended until further notice.
    • Changing rooms and shower facilities will be cleaned and disinfected after each use.

Multi-use sports halls

Hollerich Skatepark and Boy Konen Bike Park

  • Reopened on Monday, 11 January 2021 according to their usual opening hours.
  • Users must adhere to the public-health measures.

Kockelscheuer Ice Rink

  • Reopened on Monday, 11 January 2021 according to its usual opening hours.
  • Please adhere to the public-health measures. Anyone aged 6 and over must wear a mask.
  • Access is limited.

CULTURAL AND COMMUNITY CENTRES

  • Reopened on Monday, 11 January 2021 for associations that normally gather at these premises.
  • Rooms can once again be booked, provided that the public-health measures currently in force are applied during the event.
  • When using the premises, associations are fully responsible for strictly adhering to the applicable social-distancing measures, safety precautions and hygiene practices, including the guidelines published by the Ministry of Health (Ministère de la Santé) and the National Health Directorate (Direction de la Santé). Associations must also provide all the equipment and products needed to adhere to these measures.
