Eligibility

For information on the eligibility criteria for housing for the elderly and/or people with special needs: Grand-Ducal Regulation

Article 2 of this regulation stipulates that the following are eligible for this type of housing:

  • senior citizens (aged 70 or older);
  • people with special needs: people who are unable to live in housing that is not adapted to their particular needs as resulting from their disability, provided their condition is attested by a medical certificate or certificate of disability issued to them by their health insurance provider.

Article 19 of the aforementioned regulation stipulates that eligibility for housing adapted to the needs of the elderly or disabled shall be limited to households meeting the following criteria: at least one person in the household is disabled or elderly; the household is not the owner, usufructuary or emphyteutic leaseholder of a dwelling adapted to its needs; and the household is not entitled to live in another dwelling adapted to its needs. However, if these households are owners of a dwelling that is not adapted to their needs, they may be eligible for the above-mentioned housing, provided they put their own housing up for rent.

Article 13 of the aforementioned regulation stipulates that only households that have resided in the municipality for at least three years, and households in which at least one member exercises their professional activity in the municipality, meet the conditions of eligibility.

Applications

Applications must be made using the appropriate form. Incomplete applications will be returned to applicants by post, with a list of the missing documents needed to complete the application.

Applications, including all required certificates, are subject to a social enquiry conducted at the applicant's home. This enquiry may be carried out together with other social services involved in the case. Once the application has been reviewed and the social enquiry has been completed, the applicant will receive a receipt of acceptance confirming their registration on the waiting list.

Once per year, a letter is sent to all prospective tenants inviting them to update their application. Applications that are not confirmed will be removed from the waiting list.

Rent calculation

Rent is calculated in accordance with the provisions stipulated in Articles 18 and 26 of the amended Grand-Ducal Regulation.
