Changes to the bus network

Changes to the city's bus network came into effect on Sunday, 13 December 2020. More information

At a glance

Following the inauguration of the tram line (T1) from "Kirchberg, Luxexpo" to "Rout Bréck-Pafendall" in December 2017, and the extension to Place de l'Étoile in July 2018, a major new chapter is currently underway: the extension of the line to Luxembourg Central Station.

The newly extended tram line will replace a large number of buses going from Luxembourg Central Station to "Luxepo" in Kirchberg, mainly those on lines 1 and 16, as well as some regional (RGTR) lines. Once the new section of the line is operational, bus services on this route will be discontinued. In order to avoid overlapping bus and tram services, the AVL bus network has been revamped.

The city's new public-transport network is based on the following main lines:

  • Tram
  • Lines between "Gare Centrale" and the city centre
  • Lines between "Gare Rocade" and the city centre
  • Lines from the west of the city to the city's eastern or northern districts

It also includes a number of secondary lines.

To give passengers a better overview of the network and make it as easy as possible for them to find their way around, each stop will have an individual platform number.
