In light of the current coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic and the crisis situation declared by the government, which has been extended by the Chamber of Deputies to last for three months, all sports and cultural events as well as activities scheduled during this period have been cancelled.

This new guideline applies not only to all events organised by the City of Luxembourg, but also to those organised by their partners or external organisers. 

Markets, flea markets, neighbourhood fairs and antique markets

The following have been cancelled:

  • The flea markets on 5 April, 3 May and 7 June 2020
  • The "Zéissenger Kiermes" (1–5 May 2020)
  • The Oktavmäertchen (2–17 May 2020)
  • The "Mäerler Kiermes" (22–26 May 2020)
  • The "Gasperécher Kiermes" (5–9 June 2020)
  • Antique markets (until further notice)

Sports events and activities

The following have been cancelled:

  • The "Aktioun Bambësch" Easter programme (14–17 April 2020)
  • Mountain bike races for young people in the "La Pédale Muhlenbach" cycle club (25 April 2020 at the Boy Konen Bike Park)
  • Ceratizit Festival Elsy Jacobs (8–10 May 2020)
  • COSL Spillfest (21 May 2020)
  • ING Night Marathon Luxembourg and the Roll & Run race (23 May 2020)
  • Olympic Day (12 June 2020)
  • "Rencontres sans frontières" (14 June 2020)
  • Sports pour tous (Sports for All) programme – all classes and activities (young people, adults and senior citizens)
  • "S.d.S. Sport-Wochen" activities
  • Events and activities organised by the Service Jeunesse et Intervention Sociale (Youth and Social Intervention Department)
  • Adult bike school

Cultural events

The following have been cancelled:

  • "Integration and Interculturalism" day (14 March 2020 at the Centre sociétaire in Hollerich)
  • Round-table discussion about endometriosis (30 March 2020)
  • All guided tours by the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (until further notice)
  • Concert de midi (20 March 2020) as well as all concerts scheduled in April
  • Public concerts scheduled to be held at Place d'Armes in March and April
  • Explore Luxembourg 2020 (10 and 11 April 2020 at Place d'Armes)
  • Éimaischen folk festival (13 April 2020)
  • Fête de la Musique (19 June 2020)
  • Openings of the following exhibitions: “Charles Kohl” (Villa Vauban) and "Mateneen" (Ratskeller, Cercle Cité)
  • "Konscht am Gronn" outdoor exhibitions (3 May and 7 June 2020)
  • All events and activities organised by the Konviktsgaart and the Service Seniors (Department of Senior Services), including open days, conferences and film screenings

Politics, administration, etc.

The following have been cancelled:

  • Opening hours of the college of aldermen (until further notice)
  • Public meeting in Pulvermühle (18 March 2020)
  • Luxembourgish and German sign-language courses organised by the Service Intégration et besoins spécifiques (Integration and Special Needs Department)(until 19 August 2020)
